Cy - BJP - January

Yay!!! I eventually got around to finishing the top part of my 'teardrop' pendant. Not bad for a beading novice I think.
I'm happy with how it turned out.

I purposely left some of the orange showing through as it's a great contrast for the black, and it enhances the gold semi-see-thru glass beads.

And finally.............. drum roll please..........my first bead encrusted Teardrop Pendant on a gold chain.

I also tried it attached to a black neckwire which is shorter than the chain and for using as a choker pendant.
The photo below was taken at a different time of day and the colours are more true without the glare of the shiny bits.

This was a big learning curve for me.
When I next use this encrusted bead embroidery technique I will do things differently. But that is what this BJP is for ...... to experiment with techniques that I may have not tried before, or to play with and develop techniques that I have enjoyed using.

February's BJP will be the same shape as above but a totally different technique that will be such fun to do.

  1. Gee, I think I like it best on the plain black wire, but only by a bit. It is lovely no matter how you choose to wear it!

  2. I agree with Cyndi - the plain black puts the emphasis on the beadwork. I do like the glow of the orange behind the design. I don't think you can call yourself a 'novice' now!!

  3. Hi, your BJP Teardrop came out lovely! I also seem to like it best on the black wire. But either way it came out very beautiful!

    1. Thank you Bobbi, I've tried wearing it both ways now and I definitely prefer it on the shorter neck-wire as it's quite a big pendant (5") and actually looks better sitting high on the neck.

  4. Beautiful job. I love that you can wear it as a short necklace or a longer one.

  5. Really love this colorway and the interesting beads you chose to define the teardrop. It's stunning either way, but I like it best on the black wire. I'm already looking forward to checking in with you for February.

    1. Thank you Char. I was pleasantly surprised that the orange went so well with it. I usually don't use orange in my work, but this time it was well worth it.
I can't wait to see what I do next either, lol.

  8. Oh My gosh! I love this. those little black circles with the thread - awesome! As an orange-phobe, I commend you on using that color so successfully! I may just have to rethink using orange.....

  9. I don't know what you'd want to do differently, Cy... This is fabulous! I like it on the black wire, especially. You made great (artful) decisions all along and your technique is excellent for a beginner. You're going to have to stop calling yourself that!
