YOPping along

It's Sunday - and this is a Year Of Projects post.

  Summers End   crochet mandala.
3 rows added since last Sunday. One row of orange, two rows of yellow.
As this gets bigger it takes longer to complete one full round, hence only three rows rows done this week. It also takes a fair bit of concentration to follow the pattern (peace and quiet helps too, but there isn't much of this available at my home at the moment).

  Crazy Quilt Colour Journal
This is a portable project that I take to meetings to work on.
Each block has a selection of neutral fabrics for the background hand stitched together, and each block is a different colour scheme.
This block will predominantly read as lime green (I hope) and is number 8 of 12.
Each block will include a paisley or two.
Each block will include a crochet motif or two.
Basic stitches to these seams were done while I was travelling/living in caravan since selling our farm last year. Additions and embellishments have been added this week.

And my new graphic for YOP

    1. Thank you Ruth. I thought that sticking to the neutrals would make the colours 'pop' better.

  9. Your stitching is beautiful! I understand about the rounds taking longer and longer....same with me on my giant granny square. The mandela is gorgeous and I'm sorry about your farm. I had a little farmette I had to sell but I'm getting older and it was getting to be a lot to take care of but I would still like to live in the country again. Take care and have a great week!

    1. Thanks Sam, We had a great time on the farm, but we are still having a great time since moving. We put our furniture and belongings in storage and had a seven month touring caravan holiday, traveling around NZ and keeping an eye open for our 'forever' home, which we found on the edge of a village in the Taranaki countryside. Really love it here.

You are wonderfully patient. Your embroidery is great; the last two are my favorite. I like your YOP graphic. What do you do with your mandalas? Hang them as wall art?

    1. Thank you Stefanie. Due to its size this 'Summers End' mandala will be a table centre-piece. I have a lovely darkish walnut-wood round dining table that it would look lovely on.

  12. Green and white is a beautiful colour scheme and it's one that I rarely think to use. Thanks for the reminder! And as always I love that crochet piece.

    1. Thank you MA. I had to really dig deep to find enough enough lime green threads for this block. Even now, I'm not sure that it 'reads' as lime green though. I may have to go shopping to see what lime greens are available.

    1. Thank you Mary-Anne. Mandala is on 'hold' for a couple of days while we have another break away visiting DD and helping her with house-hunting.

    1. Thank you Lisa. It is taking me about one whole day (sometimes a bit more) to complete one whole round. I've got a couple of days with the house to myself, so I'm looking forward to a good few rounds completed before DH gets back, lol (unless someone else decides to visit me this week, which is quite possible, but I really don't mind anyone coming to stay. We run an 'open' home for family and friends.

  16. I love your stitching. I have a few quilt projects that I should pull out and finish or at least make some progress on. How do you like the traveling in the caravan? My dad did that for a while just after he retired and I think I would enjoy it for while, as long as I could bring my projects!

  17. Thanks Allison. The travelling was a lovely adventure. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The caravan had a bit of a bashing though when a tyre 'blow-out' damaged the undercarriage, and now it needs some major repairs before we can go touring with it again. Might do it all again next year if hubby repairs by then.
