Duodenary Ravellenics Events - & YOP

The yarn events at Ravelry have finished. Here are my latest event finishes, and counting them off on my YOP list too.

Bag Backstroke event - A Freeform Project-Holder Bag
I have overcome my 'fear' of knitting with this project, as it contains 4 different knitted parts. I had to teach myself how to cast-on again though, because I'd forgotten how to do that, lol.
More photos of this are on my Ravelry project page here.

Sock-put event - Bootie Slippers

Afghan Marathon event - Afghan Blanket/Comforter

Hat Dash event - Pink and Purple headband

Household Heptathlon event - Basket to hold my Threads

Household Heptathlon event - A Star Coaster for my glass of wine (or gin)

Household Heptathlon event - A woven and crocheted bookmark for my favourite book of poems

And with the 5 previously posted events:
Sweater Triathlon event - White baby cardi
Sweater Triathlon event - pink pullover
Toy Toss event - Hug-a-monster
Frogging Trampoline event - Frogging thing
Garment Polo event - Toddler skirt

12 finishes altogether over two weeks.
That makes me a Duodenary, lol.

Ravellenics ran from the 5th to the 21st August.

I would officially like to thank my DH for going away for the two weeks.
While the cat's away the crocheter will play, lol.

And, over the last two days since the Ravellenics finished, I have been sorting out and unpacking my craft room. I have re-made the flat-pack shelving, and along with the new set of shelving on top of the flat-packed ones, I now have ample shelving for books and equipment, and I have arranged it so that my new sewing table slots into a space under (and between) the shelves.
I'll get photos for next week to show what I mean. I'm so excited to have a dedicated room for my 'stuff'.

The 'Thingamigig' Doth Groweth

Yes, I am surrounded by squares, and the vest 'thingamigig' is growing.
I love the colours that are mingling together.
It was trial, error and frogging that got it this far.
At first I was stitching back and forth in rows, but the stripes that appeared from this variegated yarn did not appeal to me (I'm not a lover of stripes for my own clothing), hence the creation of squares which made irregular 'patches' of colour which I like, and I have been doing nothing else all week (apart from housework, gardening, cooking etc.)

It is very unusual for me to work on just one project for the whole week.

Will hopefully have it finished by next week.

Hope you have a great week.

Free Form Crochet Shawl -almost done

Work continues on the Free Form Crochet Shawl.

Back view -

Still a little bit more is needed on the bottom left of the piece, so that both sides are fairly equal in length and drape.

A closer shot of the middle part.

And a couple of flower style motifs of my own designing.

Free Form Crochet Shawl

Hurray!!! I am back on my computer again.
I now have a huge (and I really mean HUGE) monitor, lent to me by DS#1, so happy that I don't have to go out and buy one just yet.

So.................. on to the photos of my free form shawl.

Not all done this week, but I'm losing track of what I have already shown you.

The thing is........ growing.
I keep creating, and designing, and stitching.
And 'the thing' keeps on growing.
I'm enjoying this freedom style so much.
Lots of texture. Numerous stitches and combinations.
Hills, valleys, craters, flora and fauna.
It is very organic looking.

I still have some loose thread ends to sew in yet, so
please pretend that you didn't see them, haha.

And tomorrow I am going to add this creation to it, and fill in some more parts.

Knitting Accomplished

This is what I made with my pale yellow knitting practice piece.

And here is my finished Baby Building Blocks Blanket.
Finished by candle-light last night as we have had power cuts with the gales from the tropical storm that swept North Island.

It's not as 'straight edged' as I'd like, but hey! I'm just happy that I can knit now, lol.
