12 Crazy Mummies

Haha, don't you just love that title.
It conjures up a lovely scene in my head..... and talking of heads (crazy ones mind you) ... I 'walked' into a tree today, head first.

Ok, straight into stitch talk now.

Here are my 12 Crazy Quilt blocks in the Mummy shapes.

Done and dusted......(no I haven't been doing any more housework).

I have just decided.......after seeing the photos here (above)...... and as I have not used the traditional black fabric for the background (traditional for stained Rose window quilts)......

..... this quilt is from now on going to be called my
 Crazy Mandala Quilt
You know I love Mandala's...... and now I KNOW where this quilt is going.

Isn't it a great feeling when creative projects start to evolve of their own accord.

Happy Stitching

Darn, blogger doesn't let me click to enlarge. Well, at least I can see a bit on the individual ones. Looks just lovely. I await further happenings!

  3. I'm enjoying watching this evolve and have to admit to a great deal of curiosity about what you will end up putting in the middle. As for walking into a tree - hope you're okay!

    1. Thanks Karen. Yes I scored good at the op shop with some vintage white(ish) cloths, and some lace doilies at the Salvation Army store, and some gorgeous slightly patterned white cotton material at the quilt shop. And I went to the curtain shop for some voiles. I think I need to look online for a local silks supplier. You didn't tell me how addictive collecting whites is though. <3

  5. I saw these on CQJP 2013 and had to find out more because of the unusual shape. Never in a million minutes would I have thought mummies. I thought it was a miniature long leeve, I wondered if you had other dress pieces, and I wondered how you were going to incorporate these into a design. The Dresden treatment is awesome. Very visually pleasing! Also highly creative!

    1. Thank you so much for visiting my blog to find out how this Crazy Mandala quilt is developing. I'm not sure myself yet which way it will go, lol. These 'shapes' have always reminded me of a sarcophagus, which is where the 'mummy' idea came from, and I always had a vision of a stained glass Rose window as the final piece.
